چکیده

Fraser, C. E. Ovid (University of Wisconsin, Madison), and David T. Berman. Type-specific antigens in the psittacosis-lymphogranuloma venereum group of organisms. J. Bacteriol. 89:943-948. 1965.-Antigens of 14 strains of the psittacosis-lymphogranuloma venereum (PLV) group of organisms were prepared by treating purified particles with deoxycholate and trypsin. In complement-fixation tests of these antigens with the homologous and heterologous antisera, specific serotype differences were observed. Application of the method of specificity differences permitted placement of the 14 strains into 7 subgroups. The possible value of these techniques in immunology, epizootiology, and taxonomy of the PLV group is discussed.

The Antigenic Relationship of the Viruses of Meningopneumonitis and Lymphogranuloma Venereum

Animals recovered from infection with the viruses of lymphogranuloma venereum, meningopneumonitis, and psittacosis, were reinoculated in crossimmunity tests with these viruses. In mice immunized by intracerebral or intranasal inoculation a reciprocal partial cross-immunity between the viruses of lymphogranuloma venereum and meningopneumonitis was demonstrated. In preliminary experiments, simila...

The laboratory diagnosis of lymphogranuloma venereum.

Although the literature on this subject is already quite considerable there is still some doubt as to the exact value of the different laboratory procedures available for the diagnosis of lymphogranuloma venereum. This does not, of course, apply to the demonstration of lymphogranuloma venereum virus in material from a suspected case of this disease, for this, as in any infective process, is of ...

Attempts to passage the virus of non-specific urethritis.

During 1950-52 various methods were used in an attempt to find evidence for or against the theory that non-specific urethritis is due to a virus. A total of 234 skin tests for lymphogranuloma venereum (Willcox, 1954a), and psittacosis and catscratch fever (Willcox, 1954b), are reported below, with 412 complement-fixation tests for lymphogranuloma venereum (Macrae and Willcox, 1953) and 323 comp...

Interactions of antilipoidal antibodies with yolk sac antigens.

The complement-fixation tests for antibodies to psittacosis-lymphogranuloma venereum agents exhibit a high degree of cross-reactivity within the group; but nonspecific reactions are rare. Sera of patients with syphilis seem to provide an exception, since they have frequently been found to react nonspecifically with both ornithosis and lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV) antigens. The nonspecific nat...

Studies on Lymphogranuloma Venereum

Making use of the fact that the cells of the yolk sac of the developing embryo are readily infected with the agent of lymphogranuloma venereum and that the virus bodies can be readily observed in these cells because of the structure of the latter, the development of this agent has been followed at short intervals. It has been found to go through a regular cycle of development similar to that de...
